Forbes family receives highest honour

Not one but three. This is how many were honoured as Legionaire of the Year at the Stittsville branch 618 of the Royal Canadian Legion.

It was a clean sweep for the Forbes family as Barb Forbes, Sharon Forbes and Anne Forbes all received the prestigious Legionaire of the Year award, the highest honour that the Stittsville branch can bestow on its members.

The recent annual Honours and Awards Night at the Stittsville Legion saw as well the presentation of three plaques for service to the Legion. Recipients of these plaques were the Ladies’ Auxiliary, the Fifty Five Plus Club and the Survivors Club.

A number of certificates of merit were presented at the special evening. Recipients included Alison Albert, Tom Albert, Judy Campbell, Dave Cashman, Bev Currie, Ron Currie, Gord Davis, Lee Dilkie, Corinne Drover, Anne Forbes, Barb Forbes, Sharon Forbes, Lyn Miller, Clive Morris, Bill Scott and Barb Vant’Slot.

There were also certificates of appreciation presented, with the recipients including Gerry Adamson, John Brummell, Graham Burgess, Irv Campbell, Joe Cosman, Winnie Ferguson, Pat Fitzpatrick, Dave Forbes, Rick Gagne, Barb Gagne, Ike Gauvin, Pat Graham, Shirley Holbeck, Ray Julian, John Leroux, Lorraine Mannoly, Bev Morley, Dave Morley, Les North, Stacy Parker, Miceal Powell, Paul Richard, Claire Trudel, Steve Vant’Slot and Elwin Young.

The Legion also presented executive bars and medals to those who have been serving on the executive or in special posts. Recipients included Dave Cashman, past president’s medal, pin and bar; Judy Campbell, poppy bar and executive bar; Stacy Parker, executive medal and bar; Pat Cashman, executive medal and bar and membership bar; and Frank Windsor, track and field bar.
