Fire consumes two flatbed trucks

Ottawa East News

There were no injuries following a Dec. 4 fires that consumed two flatbed trucks in the city's east end.

The Ottawa Fire Service received the call around 6:57 a.m. Upon arriving at the

Ottawa Truck Centre located at 2716 Sheffield Rd., firefighters discovered both trucks in flames.

"The trucks were parked in the back lot of 2716 Sheffield Rd.," confirmed Marc Messier, public information office with Ottawa Fire Services. "It's believed the fire started in one truck and spread to the second vehicle, which was parked beside the first."

Firefighters had the blaze under control by 7:36 a.m. Damages are estimated at around $150,000.

"I imagine that is the cost for both trucks," Messier said.

As for the cause of the fire, reports indicate it was because of an electrical failure.

"It is noted that both trucks were plugged in - I'd imagine the suspected cause would be electrical failure," Messier reiterated.
