There are three great reasons for east end residents to stay close to home on Family Day.
Lowertown, Vanier and Overbrook will be hosting family-fun activities at their respective carnivals on Feb. 20.
Vanier Winter Carnival will be a bit different from years past. This year the carnival will take place in Optimiste Park, 43 Ste. Cecile St. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event promises to be a morning full of outdoor activities that include skating on the new rink. All activities are free. Snacks will be provided.
Lowertown's Winterfest will take place at Jules Morin Park from 1 to 4 p.m.
A bouncy castle, wagon rides, music and skating are all part of the planned fun. Free halal food will be served as well as hot chocolate.
Overbrook will host its Family Day Carnaval from 11 a.m. To 3 p.m.
There will be lots of activities including face painting, balloon animals, music, sleigh rides, arts and crafts including a mural everyone can participate in. Games will be indoor and out. There will be hotdogs and pop and free hot chocolate, coffee and warm apple cider.
Skating as well as a learn-to-snowboard clinic for children four to 10 years old will also take place.
