Maple Sugar Festival

When: March 29-April 3, 2016

It’s not only spring—it’s maple sugar season! 1,000 trees are tapped yearly in the urban Vanier Museopark’s Richelieu Park to produce approximately 400 litres of maple syrup. To commemorate this tradition, the Maple Sugar Festival hosts many fun attractions, including a Sugaring Off Brunch, Loggers competition, live performances, and more.

Ottawa Writer’s Festival

When: April 14-16, 2016

Professional writer or not, we all have authors who’ve influenced our lives in big ways. The Ottawa Writer’s Festival inspires with amazing art collaborations, idea sharing, live music, and book signings, all experienced while indulging in locally-sourced, homemade cuisine and local craft beers.

Ottawa PoutineFest (World of Poutine)

When: May 8, 2016

Talk about a foodie’s paradise—held in Festival Plaza, this event is sure to stuff you full of delicious cuisine from around the world and within Canada. With diverse food tastings, live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, a wine bar, and even a Kids Fun Zone, the Ottawa PoutineFest is sure to entertain any hungry, fun-loving crew.

Canadian Tulip Festival

When: May 13-23, 2016

Each year, approximately 600,000 visitors flock to Ottawa to celebrate the Canadian Tulip Festival. Featuring more than 50 varieties of over a million tulips, this celebration is a true visual wonder. While displays associated with the festival can be found all over Ottawa, you’ll find the highest concentration of flowers (300,000!) on the banks of Dow’s Lake at Commissioner’s Park. This festival holds deep cultural significance in Canada, best explained by the Tulip Legacy Story on the event’s website.
